Author Bio

Meet Skylar McManus, or as the internet knows him, Sedarel. He’s a 33-year-old graphic novelist from a small town in Idaho – the kind of place that’s picture-perfect but wasn’t exactly a rainbow flag-flying kind of town. Growing up there wasn’t easy for a gay kid like Skylar. It’s one of those places where everyone knows your business but might not always celebrate your true colors.

So, what does a guy do? He decides to shake things up a bit with his storytelling. Skylar’s all about bringing some much-needed color to the superhero world with his latest graphic novel featuring a gay superhero.

Why? Growing up, finding a superhero who felt like him was like finding a needle in a haystack. Skylar believes everyone deserves that hero they can see themselves in – someone who fights the bad guys and maybe deals with some of the same stuff they do.

His work’s not just about cool capes and epic battles (though there’s plenty of that, too). It’s about showing that heroes come in all forms, and it’s high time the stories we love reflect that. Through bold storytelling and even bolder illustrations, he’s on a mission to make sure no one feels left out.

When he’s not busy creating worlds where every hero gets to shine, Skylar’s either deep in gaming worlds, battling it out and exploring new realms, or hanging out online as Sedarel.

Skylar’s journey from a small Idaho town to challenging the norms of superhero tales proves that sometimes, the real heroes are the ones who dare to tell a different story.
